This blog can be given credit to my friend Johnny. I was perusing his Facebook profile and came upon 3 posts that he had penned with regard to what was occurring in his life at that time. One of which was regarding a friend that had passed of cancer. It struck me how courageous he was for telling a story that we are all guilty of. Not being there when we know our friend needs us most. It is hard for us as individuals to know what to say to someone who knows they are dying. It is not a subject that is easy for us to talk about. We want to be positive and tell them that everything will be ok and will work out in the end. But that is not everyone's happy ending. It doesn't always work out in the end and that is the hardest part of that relationship. It doesn't seem so important to talk about the basketball game or the latest news report. It's easier to not be there then sit in a room and feel extremely uncomfortable for not knowing the right thing to do. I am just as guilty of ignoring those in need. I read his story and felt inspired to start writing again. Many thoughts and feelings have been overwhelming me lately and this is the perfect outlet to sort myself out. And so it begins.....
